Since summer break has ended, I can imagine that there'll probably be more weekend getaways rather than long term ones. Ever since school started, I've had the itch to go out of town even if it's just for a few days. So I thought, what better way to feed into my desire to head out for a few days other than make a blog post about my essentials. Here are just a few of my favorites. This post is also in collaboration with my friend Lane On Fire.

Number One: A Good Playlist.

Out of all of these essentials, this is probably the most important. Having a good playlist is key to a good road trip. I don't know about you, but sitting in the car, looking out the window at the scenery, and listening to a real good playlist is key to a good road trip. Fun Fact About Me: I have a road trip playlist for just about every place I'm going. If I'm going out into the country (East Texas for example), I'll have a bunch of country songs. If I'm going somewhere like Austin, I'll listen to Indie/Pop. If I'm feeling real adventurous, I'll listen to both ;) . I'll link my Spotify account here for you to check out. (Side note: If you're into Indie Rock, Wallows and COIN are the best).

Number Two: Basic Fashion Staples.

This is another one of my favorite tips. Packing fashion staples will save you so much room. For example, if you're going out of town for a couple of days, all you need for outfits is a pair of jeans, couple basic t-shirts, one pair of sneakers, and maybe even a cardigan of some sort. When I went to Austin, I had a few t-shirt options, one pair of jeans, a cardigan, and my converse. I was able to wear the cardigan in the morning when it was cooler and rainy and get some pictures like that, but as the day got hotter, I took off the cardigan and was able to get some more pictures. Another tip: neutral colors are your best bet.

Number Three: A Good Weekender Bag

Having a cute, durable weekender bag is such a good investment, especially if you go out of town a lot. I got mine from Vera Bradley on sale and I LOVE it. There are a ton pockets to put different things in. I'll link mine as well as a few others that I've heard good things about too.

Number 4: Dry Shampoo

I cannot stress this enough, dry shampoo has helped me so much in the past. Sometimes it can be hard to find the perfect one but it's so worth it. I've used the Amika dry shampoo for years and it smells soooo good!! Fun fact: that's what kept my hair looking fresh on my trip to Austin. They even give you 15% off with your first purchase!

Well that pretty much sums it up. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post! I hope this gave you some good tips for traveling! If you have any other things to add, I'd love if you leave a comment! I hope you'll go check out Lane's post where she shares her essentials!

Well, until next time,

Jo
